I'm hoping that this notice will be enough as a reminder of the OHPV meeting this Tuesday evening. I noticed that the yahoo calendar reminder went off tonight to alert us to the tribal musings in a couple of days, and in this way, this "alert" worked well to keep us aware of the meeting.
As far as using this "new" forum to sound the alarm, is this the best way we can use this forum to alert us of the meetings? I wonder if the notice will stand out enough to help us remember the event? Should I, or someone, post a reminder of the meeting in the General topic area as well? It seems the Intercommunity area is the most appropriate, but I am concerned that it isn't blatant enough to announce the OHPV meetings.
Some people are aware of the calendar event reminder that is below the postings area. It just gives a couple of words description of the upcoming calendar events ( in chronological order), and if you run your mouse over it, it will also give you the link to the calendar event posting itself. It's a nice tool for sure, and to honest, I didn't see it right away either, but there it is, very fancy!
This may be a topic for discussion at the meeting too. Could be that some folks who were thinking of attending may not be aware of the meeting, not for lack of having an outstanding new forum on which we all get to play on, but just what should we do as far as making the OHPV meeting stand out a little more prevalently? Maybe that sounds a little biased, cause every topic is important, however it would seem that for as many folks that like to come to the meetings, it would be a shame that they miss them simply because we haven't shouted a little louder. And then again, should we shout at all? The notices are there, but do we need to amplify them?
This posting itself may help to serve as an indicator to how well this avenue of announcement is working. I guess by counting the number of hits and responses, that feedback will help us gauge what we should do when we then discuss and assess what would be the best course to take.
What'cha think?

I'm not sure how well this topic will work as a indicator of getting the meeting message across. Sure there have been at least 223 hits but the original message was posted back in February 23.

Yep, that's a good point Bill.
I want to know if just a simple posting in the area it was already designated too would do the job. And yes, I would watch the number of hits "post" the time period that I had sent out my message last night. If the numbers don't pan out, and folks say it isn't working, then I want to know how to fix it. As the alarm rang in the yahoo list, I wonder how we can garner the same kind of attention as we had then. Again, I ask, do we need to beef up the announcement, place it in another area, give it it's own heading, or let it play out as is ?? I know a lot of folks have a nice time getting together and catching up at the meetings, so it's more than doing the regular meeting stuff, it's hanging out and saying howdy to your pals.

Howdy Pal! Looks like there are nine hits since last night. I might be two of them with this response. How much difficulty and/or trouble would it be to modify the header to include a meeting notice. Perhaps one of the scripting gurus could come up with a script that ran on a timer. That way say at three days or so prior to the meeting the header banner would have the meeting notice. Kind of hard to miss that if the choice of font and color were proper. Another idea is perhaps a script that makes a mass PM notice prior to the meeting. People would get an email notifying them of their message. Ideally they would then log on to the forms wondering what the PM was about and whom it originated. BINGO! meeting notification. Personally I like my first idea better.

I am in the habit of using the "View the most recent posts on the forum." link down in the Stats section of the home page. I rarely go directly to any of the discussion groups, but I see pretty much *everything* that comes through the forums. Given this, the location of a notice might not make much difference to my finding it.....

I think I need to copy this over here too. The original posting was in the general section, I was hoping that the "general" population would notice it there. Here it is again: ************************************************************************* Just got the word from TerraCycle and Coventry,,, TerraCycle is taking a break from the hosting duties of the regular OHPV meetings and Marilyn is offering up her place for the next meeting and beyond! How much beyond and how we can share the site duties with other places is something we can talk about. Pat and Bobby J have said they would host again, periodically, but not for awhile. They are getting very busy and they need a break from our tribal meetings. They have been doing this for us for a very long time now and we owe them a big thank you for letting us come and mess up their place! Thanks guys !
Now when we go to Coventry, Marilyn has advised me to ask the meeting attendees to bring a chair ( or two) with them, to park our recum butts on. Well, those weren't exactly her words,,, .
The next meeting is scheduled for the 19th of May, at 6:30. Coventry's address is: 2025 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland. She's right on the corner of Hawthorne and 20th. The yahoo calendar notifier has also been updated to reflect the new address and is still active for reminding folks of the meetings.
Thank you TerraCycle for all your great hosting and staying intuned to our tribal needs!
And a hearty thank you to Marilyn for inviting us into her new digs! We promise not to make to big of a mess !! Come out to the meeting, take a look around if you haven't been here before ( that seems kinda impossible ) and talk about all things HPV and OHPV !
