Since October, I've been doing a weekly body works class (aerobics with weights), and spinning 3-4 times a week.  This part of my strategy to be ready for spring training out of doors.  All leading up to riding the STP in one day this year.  Also do XC skiing when I can get up to the mountain.
How about any of you?  What are you doing?

haven't done much other than getting out in the Quest more than a few times in January. Managed ~250 miles for the month. Been trying to get in a weekly hike up the local hill. A 4 mile round trip. Also been wanting to get into running. Did a few back in November, enjoyed it, but have been lazy on that front. Been doing a short session of bodyweight workouts twice/week. Easy to do, but high intensity..

Like you, my main goal is for a one-day STP. I don't want to just finish, I want to be strong the whole way and still feel good after the finish.

Oh my Gosh  Shocked

So many are planning a one day STP - I was but had a conflict that come up at the last minute - still may be able to pull it off "maybe" with tight planning.

The event is one thing - the training prep is another  Cry  I am going to have to get into a training regime soon - but then my season never starts before Jack Frost anyway Cheesy

I have been commuting about 90 miles per week for January.  But I picked up a bronchial thing right now and so my wind is shot and I will lose conditioning.  I also wish to do the one day STP.  I hope to average about 17mph or so with limited stops.  My regular STP partner fell through this year so I will be riding mostly solo.

My winter training has been the BikeJournal consecutive days of riding challenge. It requires at least a 10K ride daily, with the allowed substitution of up to 20 days on the indoor bike for 45 minutes. I have been able to meet the challenge daily since last April, now at 294 days and still riding. I have hit the indoor bike twice this week (a bad week as it turns out), but have managed 893 outdoor miles so far this year. The riding is slow, however, at an average speed for a year of under 12 mph.

This seems to take care of my training needs on the bike (along with the 400,000+ feet a year of altitude gain), but I do a few reps each night with 15# free weights just to keep my upper body from thinking I have forgotten about it completely.  Grin
