If you choose to use an email address and user name that have not been used for bicycle-related activity and are not otherwise obviously associated with the local area, this may keep your request from being approved. Due to the constant attempts of spammer exploits to gain forum membership, all requests are screened against a list of known spammers. Known spammers are silently rejected.

If the spammer check comes up clear, the address and ID are checked in Google. If the requester is unknown to Google or turns up with nothing related to bicycles or the local area, the request is likely to be held for rechecking later. There are over a dozen requests currently in that state dating back into May 2009.

Just picked this up off the Yahoo Power Assist group.

Congratulations Professor John Goodenough!

Quote
AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas at Austin engineering Professor John Goodenough, who developed materials critical to the development of lightweight and rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, ushering in the wireless revolution, has been awarded the Enrico Fermi Award, one of the most distinguished science and technology honors given by the White House.

Goodenough will share the presidential honor with Stanford University's Siegfried S. Hecker. Each will receive a gold medal and share the $375,000 honorarium. Both will be honored at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. at a later date. The award is administered on behalf of the White House by the U.S. Department of Energy.
