99 Days of Summer Challenge
« on: March 17, 2016, 11:12:25 PM »
Memorial Day is on May 30th, Labor Day is on September 5th. That's 99 days of Unofficial Summer.
This winter was long and wet, but warmer weather is right around the corner, and that calls for a special challenge.

99 Days of Summer Challenge

Can you ride 1000 miles from Memorial Day to Labor Day?
99 days  =  14 weeks  =  average 10.1 miles per day or 71.5 miles per week  =  1000 miles!

It's not a race against others, but a friendly nudge to ride our bikes.
You don't have to ride fast or far if you ride frequently.

By Memorial Day: Email your commitment to ohpvhumanpowerchallenge@gmail.com.
All Summer: Ride often, keep a record of dates and mileage.
By September 7th: Email your results to ohpvhumanpowerchallenge@gmail.com.
Your success will be recognized in some small way at the Recumbent Retreat, but the real reward is personal pride.

Just a reminder - keep track of your miles beginning this Monday, and report your success to ohpvhumanpowerchallenge@gmail.com. Be sure to send your email within 2 days of Labor Day, since I'll be at the retreat myself after that.

Personally, this will be a tough challenge - I've gotten lazy and soft.

Diane and I got 18 miles in this afternoon.  Does that count for 36 miles?

Well, I got in more miles than I thought I'd end up with, but certainly not 1000. I ended up with 381.50 from Memorial Day to Labor Day. How about the rest of you?

I got somewhere around 900... My 'tracking system' (memory and a faulty note pad on my phone) puked out on me! Started off great in June, what with riding everyday at TaterTOT, but by August I slacked off. It was still a great summer to ride! Kind of appropriate how the rain returned today...
