Autocross

The autocross races were a lot of fun- and only partly because Jeff took a break. Bill Stites, Lonnie Morse, and Don Hoskinsson set up a pair of mirror-image courses that included two complete circles, several tight turns, and a short chicane. The object was to navigate each course as fast as possible and come to a complete stop at the end. Each racer was given two runs on each course, with placings being determined by the quickest total time of all their runs. Racers were split between single- and multi-track vehicles and men's and women's divisions.

Lots of things happened quickly- racers were accelerating, turning, and braking in rapid succession. The multi-track trikes were especially fun to watch: they were either scrubbing or going up on two wheels around turns and then flying into the finish with their rear wheels in the held high under maximum braking. Everybody got beat by Chris Alling on his upright, though, despite Chris going down on his last run and gaining some road rash on his elbow.
